Job Purpose: Under general supervision, responsible for coding, processing and filing insurance claims, collecting patient payments, and overseeing the collections process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Researches all information needed to complete the billing process.
2. Code for all services, procedures, and treatment rendered by assigned physicians.
3. Assists in the processing of insurance claims.
4. Follows-up with insurance companies and ensures claims are paid/processed.
5. Process payments from Insurance companies.
6. Post transactions and reconcile insurance and patient payments.
7. Works with other staff to follow-up on accounts until zero balance.
8. Assists in error resolution.
9. Assists with setting up patient payment plans and work collection accounts.
10. Answers patient questions and concerns related to billing.
11. Answers the phone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information.

12. Maintains required billing records, reports, and files.
13. Perform clerical duties that include answering the telephone and sorting mail.
14. Research returned mail.
15. Participates in educational activities.
16. Maintains strictest confidentiality as related to HIPAA.
17. Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred.
2. Demonstrates professional customer service skills.
3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
4. Working knowledge of relevant policies and regulations.
5. Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
6. Works effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff.
Supervisor: Billing Manager
Employee Status: Non-exempt, hourly wage
Core Work Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
